Though this flyer was originally created as a graphic introduction for my classmates in an instructional design course, it could also be (unabashedly) titled, “Notes to Future Employers.”
An image of the flyer is directly below. Below this image is the web version of the flyer.

Marcia Gray, Learner

Slow but steady
I may not understand concepts right away, but usually I’ll start to “get” it via the next chapter, book, explanation, experience, etc.

Structure seeking
I prefer a guided or predetermined path, especially if I’m new to a topic. I loathe having to traverse dozens or hundreds of hyperlinks.

Keen on connections
I’m more likely to remember or understand something if I can connect it to something already in my brain.

Contemplative
I cannot read anything interesting quickly, for concepts presented often prompt immediate reflection, consideration, further curiosity, etc.

Practical about practice
I need to consistently use or apply skills and knowledge if I want to reach or maintain competency or expertise in that area.

Flexible
I love words and wordplay. I love charts and graphs. Sometimes I learn by memorizing stuff. Sometimes I learn by reading, doing, or watching.
CAVEATS

Don’t tell me to “be creative.”
It inhibits my creativity.

Don’t rush me.
Under time pressure, I’m more likely to make errors, employ faulty logic, and forget important points.
