Here, sample pages from a self-paced, asynchronous, instructorless tutorial on information graphics. This demo started as a student project for a course on designing online courses. The project was extended in a subsequent course to include demonstrating the course content on additional e-learning platforms ( Moodle, Rise.com, and Adobe Captivate.)
This fun and informative interactive game was created as part of a website encouraging pet adoptions in Seattle. The photo grid and individual graphs are generated on the fly via code I wrote in JavaScript and D3.js and a pet-registration data file of over 85,000 records.
Here are a few basic interactive charts I created during my first forays into D3: a line chart, a series of small multiples, a choropleth, and a strange but fun force-directed graph.
Editors of college alumni magazines faced dilemmas and decisions both common and unique as they sought to appropriately react to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This report is a survey of the fruits of the editors’ and staffs’ organizational, intellectual, creative, and emotion-laden labors in response to 9/11 as demonstrated by thirty-five alumni magazines.
This article is an examination of the sweetener Stevia – what it is, how it is used, and whether or not it is a safe and worthwhile sugar substitute. (This article was written in 2014; CSPI has since changed their view on Stevia.)
